Feelin' Productive Today

I declared today project day! Well, actually I was just going to paint my curtains and then I was just going to paint the stool and yeah... :o)

THE CURTAINS
I started this morning with taping off the curtains. I ran out of paint and ended up having to stop and go to Hobby Lobby (that is never a good thing :o) Anyway here is the started project

Here is the
BEFORE
of the dining area

And now the
AFTER
Doesn't that color make a world of difference?!
I am so excited and LOVE LOVE the way it turned out!

THE STOOL
This little stool I got at a little antique store that I frequent. I wanted to have a little stool for the grandson to reach the sink, climb on the couch or to be tall enough to help NahNah when he gets s bit bigger.
I didn't sand it before, because I want the colors to show through once I sand it when it dries.

It's not quite done, but here it is covered in yellow.

THE LABELS
This project had my daughter stumped when I sent her a picture. She was like "what in the world??!!"
I needed some card board and the only thing I could come up with was the soda boxes.

Cut some ovals from the cardboard
and painted them with chalk paint
A hole punch and some jute and there you go...labels for my laundry baskets

TRASH TO TREASURE
THis little picture was a find one day at goodwill. I loved the shape and knew I could could come up with something pretty for my gallery wall.

So, I printed out these words on some pretty paper, mod lodged it to the board and sanded the edges. So pretty and perfect for my gallery wall!

There you have it! Have I told you lately how much I LOVE being home 2 days a week and how much I LOVE my new home??!!

Door to Door

Every time I went inside the house from our back patio, I hated the look of the ugly, dirty, faded door. So, I decided it was time to paint it. I had done this on the front door and over it, but was kinda hesitant for the back since there really wasn't anything to "tie in" the color. (the front had the shutters too)

Here is the
BEFORE
(sorry for the sun spots)

And the
AFTER

Must say...
I am LOVIN' it!

Seasons of Change

Wow! I can't believe I haven't posted anything on here since February.... Life has changed quite a bit since that last post. So, let me share with all of you a little bit of what has been happening at
Nana's House

WE MOVED!!!
It was a lengthy process, but we bought a beautiful house that is not in the country and WE ARE  IN LOVE! There is NO DOUBT that God blessed us with this house that is slowly, but surely becoming our home.

I HAD A BIRTHDAY!
My family made this day very special for me. (never mind my daughter holding out the knife in this picture :o) It was a bit difficult for me this year (long story), but I was blessed by my girls, my hubby, my little man, grandson and son-in-law.
Yes, that is a peanut butter cup chocolate ice cream cake from Cold Stone.
And it was YUMMY!

MADE SOME MAJOR COLOR CHANGES IN THE NEW HOUSE!

In our last house, my main colors were reds, greens and yellows. I wanted to go with a lighter theme in this house. So, I went with tans, blues, yellows and whites. So far, I am loving the light feeling of the house and it really makes me happy how everything is coming together.

A BABY IS ON THE WAY!!
And no, I'm not pregnant! But my dear brother-in-law and his wife are. We are going to be Aunt and Uncle, once again, in November. I can hardly wait to meet this little one (and spoil it too!)

WE GOT GRASS!
I should have taken a before picture, but I think I forgot. Anyway, here it is. So far it's still doing great, except for the spots where the dogs pee :o( Anyone have any suggestions for that? I'd love to know if you have found anything that works!

HUBBY GOT HIS BA!!!
This has been a VERY long process for him, but oh so deserving!
I am SO proud of that man!

A NEW CAR TOO!
Well, not my new car, but the hubby's. :o) He is THE most unselfish man I know and is ALWAYS spoiling me and catering to me and everyone else around him. It was time he did something for himself. And yes, it was an expensive something, but it sure is beautiful!

JONAH TURNED ONE!
The most adorable little grandson a Nana could ever ask for, is already one! Where, oh where, did the time go? We celebrated with a mustache bash that his momma put together, lots of family and friends and cake smashing to top it off. Isn't he just the cutest thing you ever did see??!!

Those are just a few of the highlights from the past few months. I  have SO MANY projects to share with you all. Another big change is that I have now gone to working part time. I am so excited to have more time for projects, for blogging, for my family, for all the things I never had time for working full time. So, you will hopefully see ore of me, and my projects, over the next few weeks.
I can't wait to share all the things I have been working on.

All Day Cookin'

Ever since I stopped participating in a cooking group that made freezer meals, I have been interested in doing my own freezer cooking. You see, we are a BUSY family! I leave the house during the weekdays at 6:30 and don't get home until about 5:45. By the time I get home, I am exhausted! The weekends are filled with church, usually a date night every other week, doing stuff around the house or with our family, laundry, house cleaning....get the picture?

I have been part of a website for quite sometime and have wanted to try it, but didn't get up the nerve to go fot it til a few weeks ago. I finally got tired of eating out all the time or constant "do it yourself" nights. Last week I looked at the website again and decided it was worth a try.
It's called Once A Month Mom and its FANTASTIC!

I spent about 3 hours shopping last night between Kingsoopers and Costco. (partly because I got a new Costco membership and was wandering around there eating samples for dinner and looking at all the cool stuff) Then the hubby and I got up pretty early today and started right in. I neglected to read the directions before hand, so missed out on the fact that a few things were supposed to be done the night before. That set us back a little, but we managed to still get it done.

SEVEN AND A HALF HOURS LATER....we had some great food stored away in our freezer for the upcoming month. Everything smells and looks wonderful!

The cool thing about Once A Month Mom is that EVERYTHING is laid out for you. And when I say everything....I mean EVERYTHING! You get your shopping  list, your recipes cards (which by the way are customizable for the size of your family), instructions and even labels for your finished meals.

I wanted to share with you all a few parts of our day

The hubby chopping all the veggies

Just a few of the things we needed to complete all of these meals

Yep, I had a few of these today!

 Still lovin' the KitchenAid!

 Mini Egg & Ham cups

 Chili Verde

 Mini Sheperd's Pies

 Coffee Cake Muffins

Stir Fry Veggie & Rice Packets

 Easy Ranch Chicken

 Beef Vegetable Soup

 Beef Enchiladas

Taco Pasta

The items I forgot to take pictures of:
Bagel Pizzas
Mexican Chicken
Chicken & Broccoli Bake
Pizzadillas
Instant Oatmeal Packets

So, all in all, we ended up with 20 dinner meals, about 8 servings of 3 diffferent breakfast meals and 8 servings of 3 different lunch meals.

I can honestly say that overall, I am thrilled with how everything turned out. Not bad for 3 hours of shopping, 7 & 1/2 hours of cooking and $300. I look forward to having home cooked meals ready to pop in the oven.
I will definately do this again!

Project Completion Weekend

We have been so so busy lately, as well as focused on so may other things, that some things have been put off again and again. THIS weekend, we decided we were going to stay home and FINALLY get some things done. Here are a few of the things we can mark off the TO DO list:

We have 2 of these bookshelves. In our new home, we will have an office. My desk is white & the hubby's is wood. So I decided I wanted to paint one of them white, just like my desk

I didn't paint the back because I ordered some old sheet music that I plan to decopage the back with

This potatoe bin was gifted to me by a friend. I didn't have a food pantry & mentioned that I wanted a wood potatoe bin. Well, she happened to have one and gave it to me.
BUT, I decided to give it a new look

I waited a LONG time for this letter P.
It has hung on our wall just like this for a few years. However, moving to a new house in a few months, I plan to change a lot of the colors in my decor. I am really excited to be going to a more neutral color palette....

But with splashes of teal here and there. This isn't a great picture, but you get the idea

Then there is my bed.
I wanted a pencil post bed for YEARS! Finally, after searching on craigslist for just the right one, I came upon this one. My Hubs & I took an entire weekend & painted & distressed it (& a dresser too)
BUT it felt like there was something missing...

And this was just the thing to make it complete! The hubs & son made this frame just for me &
I LOVE IT!!!

Here they are hard at work...
I love these guys!!

I don't have a before picture of these guys, but they had labels on them for many many years & one day  I came across this idea on Pinterest
(oh pinterest how you get me in trouble on so many occasions)
So, I went to work & scraped off all the labels and painted on the chalk paint. They are still drying, but I can't wait to chalk on my new labels
As well as all of these things, we somehow managed to also
complete the laundry,
caulk the window ledges & tubs and toilets
& I even managed to get a bit of cleaning done!
I love weekends like this!
